Bowdoin Continues To Roll, Grounds Roger Williams For Fifth Straight Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team won a battle of regionally-ranked opponents at Morrell Gymnasium on Saturday, taking a 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-16, 25-18) decision over Roger Williams.

The win improves the Polar Bears, ranked fourth regionally, to 6-1 this fall. Roger Williams, ranked 12th in New England entering the weekend, falls to 9-3.

Bowdoin used a balanced attack that featured five players in double figures in kills, led by 14 from Tory Edelman, who also had five block assists. Hillary Cederna had 10 kills and 17 digs while Melissa Haskell notched 10 kills and 14 digs. Kristin Hanczor had 10 kills and three total blocks while Emese Gaal also pitched in 10 kills. Sophia Cornew sparked the attack with 50 assists.

Danna McDonald led the way for the Hawks with 13 kills and eight digs. Marybeth Torpey also saw double figures with 11 kills while Emily Lebowitz posted 29 assists and 20 digs in the loss for Roger Williams.

The win is the 25th consecutive home victory for Bowdoin, dating back to October of 2007.
