Box Score BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Bowdoin College volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 non-conference victory over the University of New England on Tuesday evening. The Polar Bears, who received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll for the first time in program history this week, improve to 4-1 overall this season.
Bowdoin dispatched the Nor'easters by game scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-15 to claim their third-straight win. Melissa Haskell racked up nine kills and ten digs to lead the Polar Bears. Hillary Cederna and reigning NESCAC Player of the Week Kristin Hanczor notched eight kills apiece.Sophia Cornew dished out 30 assists in the victory.
The Polar Bears continued their recent dominance over UNE, extending their winning streak to ten straight matches against the Nor'easters. Not only has Bowdoin claimed ten straight decisions, but they've won 27 consecutive sets dating back to 2005 against their Biddeford neighbors.
Bowdoin will return to action with three matches this weekend, including back-to-back home dates. The Polar Bears will host Colby on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Roger Williams on Saturday at noon. Bowdoin will travel to play at Bates Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
