WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team easily dismissed The College of New Jersey, 5-0, in an NCAA Tournament Second Round match Saturday morning at Williams College. The Polar Bears advance to play in Sunday's regional final against the winner of the host Ephs and Wheaton.
The Polar Bears started off by sweeping all three doubles matches. The duo of Kellen Alberstone and Kate Winingham took over at #1 doubles, winning 8-3, and their teammates at #2, Emily Lombardi and Emma Lewis, matched with another 8-3 win. TCNJ's #3 team of Emily Petersack and Felice Trinh put on a late charge, winning
two games down 7-3 to tighten the match, but Bowdoin's Hannah Hoerner and Chantale Lavertu closed out the final game to win 8-5.
In singles, Bowdoin #1 Alberstone was again the first off the court in a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win over Karisse Bendijo. The clinching point came a short while later just one court away, as Lombardi took her match 6-1, 6-2.
