MEDFORD, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team suffered its first loss to a Division III team this season, dropping an 8-1 decision to Tufts on Friday evening. The Polar Bears fall to 7-2 overall (2-1 NESCAC) and will travel to play at Williams on Saturday.
Tufts is ranked fifth in the latest Division III poll while Williams is fourth. Bowdoin currently stands 12th in the rankings.
First-year Emma Lewis was the lone winner on the afternoon for Bowdoin, collecting a three-set decision at #3 singles. The play was significantly closer than the final score indicated, as five of the six singles matches went the distance, with the host Jumbos prevailing in four of the five.
