WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Bowdoin College men's basketball team saw its season come to a close in an 82-62 loss to Williams in the Quarterfinals of the NESCAC Tournament on Saturday. The eighth-seeded Polar Bears end their year with a record of 14-10 while the top-seeded Ephs improve to 24-1 on the season.
Randy DeFeo led Bowdoin with 14 points in his final collegiate game, including 4-5 from three-point range. Will Hanley carded a double-double with 11 points and 18 rebounds and becomes the first Polar Bear to finish a season averaging a double-double (19.8 points/11.3 rebounds) since Nick Browning in 1994-95.
Williams connected on 53% of its shots for the game (33-62), including 13 three-pointers to slowly pull away from the Polar Bears. The Ephs used a late first-half run to take a 44-26 lead at intermission and Bowdoin could get no closer than 16 points in the second half.
James Wang and Troy Whittington had 14 points apiece for Williams, who had ten different players score. Bowdoin held a 38-36 edge in rebounding, but could not find their range from long-distance, connecting on just 5-20 from beyond the arc.
