Bowdoin Dominates First Half, Cruises to Victory at Maine Maritime

CASTINE, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's basketball team scored the first 15 points of the game and were never challenged in a 72-44 non-conference win over Maine Maritime Academy on Monday evening.

The Polar Bears roll to their second consecutive win and improve to 5-2 this season while the Mariners fall to 1-5. Bowdoin will close out their first semester slate with non-NESCAC games against two of its biggest rivals. The Polar Bears will be at Colby Friday in Waterville (7:00) and at home Sunday against Bates (1:00).

Will Hanley scored a game-high 20 points with seven rebounds for Bowdoin. Wyatt Littles added 12 off the bench on 5-7 shooting as eleven different Polar Bears scored in the win. Bowdoin held a 45-30 edge on the glass and connected on 53.7% of its shots (29-54).

A three-point play by Ryan O'Connell and a three-pointer from Bryan Hurley sparked the early 15-0 run by the Polar Bears. Bowdoin completely dominated the first half, holding a lead of 37-7 at one point before settling for a 46-21 edge at intermission.
