Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Bowdoin College volleyball team saw its longest win streak in program history come to an end Friday evening at the Hall of Fame Tournament, as the Polar Bears fell 3-0 to Springfield College in a battle of nationally-ranked squads.
Springfield took the tightly-contested decision by identical set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 25-22.
The 25th-ranked Polar Bears, winners of a program-best 17 matches entering Friday, fall to 18-1 this season. The 20th-ranked Pride improve to 26-1 on the season. The teams entered the weekend tied for second in the latest New England coaches poll.
Kristin Hanczor led Bowdoin with 11 kills and two blocks while Melissa Haskell had eight kills and eight digs. Sophia Cornew notched 28 assists and ten digs for Bowdoin, who also received 11 digs from Taylor Vail.
Bowdoin will return to action at the Hall of Fame Tournament on Saturday at Smith College. The Polar Bears face Gordon at 9:00 a.m. before battling Brandeis at 2:00 p.m.
