BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Tufts University men's basketball team shot 54% from the field in the second half on their way to a 64-55 victory at Bowdoin on Friday evening. The Jumbos (7-8, 1-2 NESCAC) earn their first conference win of the season while snapping Bowdoin's (11-3, 1-1 NESCAC) eight-game winning streak.

Scott Anderson finished with a game-high 23 points for the Jumbos to go with eight rebounds. Amauris Quezada pitched in 15 points for Tufts. Bowdoin's effort was led by Will Hanley, who posted 18 points and 17 rebounds. Randy DeFeo had 11 points and five assists while Justin Nowell also saw double-digits with ten points.

Bowdoin jumped out to a 14-4 after a Ryan O'Connell jumper capped a 13-0 Polar Bear run midway through the opening period. Tufts clamped down defensively and closed out the period on an 18-5 surge, sparked by an Oliver Cohen three-pointer that gave the visitors a 22-19 edge at halftime.

The Jumbos came out of the locker room on fire, knocking down four of their first five three-pointers to open the stanza. Tufts opened up as much as a 15-point lead in the second half before a quick spurt from Bowdoin cut the lead to six points on a DeFeo three-pointer with 4:12 to play. But the Polar Bears could get no closer as the Jumbos knocked down 14 of 17 attempts from the charity stripe in the second half to seal the victory.

Bowdoin shot 35.6% from the field for the game, while Tufts finished at 37%. The Jumbos will travel to play at Colby on Saturday while the Polar Bears host Bates.
