WATERVILLE, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team won their 14th consecutive game, completing a season sweep of Colby in a 65-56 win Saturday at Wadsworth Gymnasium. Bowdoin is 14-1 overall (1-0 NESCAC) while the Mules fall to 10-3 (0-1 NESCAC).
Kaitlin Donahoe led Bowdoin with 17 points and four assists, while Nicole Coombes added 12 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Amy Hackett finished with 13 points and Jill Henrikson chipped in eight points.
Colby held its final lead of the game at 19-18 in the opening half when Diana Manduca knocked down two free throws. Bowdoin, however, went on a 13-4 run over the final 3:57 to take a 31-23 margin at halftime as Hackett scored a dozen points in the frame.
The Polar Bears led 35-27 when the Mules put together a 6-0 run to cut the margin to 35-33, the closest Colby would come the rest of the way. Bowdoin led 39-36 with 11:36 to play and used its tough half-court defense to pull away for a 59-45 margin with 5:05 to play. Colby could get no closer than eight points for the remainder.
Manduca finished with 13 points and four assists to lead the Mules. Bowdoin will return to action next Friday when they host Tufts University.
