Polar Bears Pound Presque Isle For 13th Straight Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team jumped out to a 21-2 lead and was never challenged in an 83-27 victory over the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Thursday night. The Polar Bears (13-1), winners of 13 straight games, are ranked 14th in the latest D3Hoops.com National Poll. The Owls fall to 2-8 with their fifth loss in their last six games.

Bowdoin's bench outscored the entire Presque Isle team on its own, totaling 52 points. Allie Piscina (15 points, seven rebounds, three steals) paced the attack along with 13 from Amy Hackett. Katie Bergeron added 10 points, three assists and three steals while Kaitlin Donahoe and Jill Henrikson dished out six assists apiece. Megan Korhonen led the Owls with 10 points.

The Polar Bears forced 17 first-half turnovers en route to a 26-point halftime lead. For the game, Bowdoin tallied 43 points off 34 Owl turnovers, holding the visitors to 32.4% shooting. Presque Isle did not attempt a free throw in the entire game as the Polar Bears held an opponent to its lowest point total since 2001, when they permitted just 24 points to Plattsburgh State.

Bowdoin will open NESCAC regular-season play this Saturday at Colby when they play the Mules at 4:00 p.m.
