BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team
extended their winning streak to four matches with a 3-0 win over
Maine Maritime on Wednesday evening at Morrell
Gymnasium. The Polar Bears improve to 6-2 this season while the
Mariners drop to 5-6 overall on the year.
Bowdoin used a balanced attack to cruise to their fourth
consecutive shutout win by scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-18. The
Polar Bears have not lost a set since their Middlebury match on
September 11, a string of 12 straight winning sets.
First-year Luisa
LaSalle led the Polar Bears with nine kills while Hillary Cederna posted
eight kills and five digs and two blocks. Stephanie Drumright and
Ellie
Brennan had six kills apiece as Sophia
Cornew notched 24 assists. Maine Maritime was led by 13 kills
from Chelsea Ward in the loss.
Bowdoin will travel to Illinois this weekend to play in the
Wheaton (Ill.) College Invitational. Bowdoin opens play with a pair
of matches on Friday against Benedictine (Ill.) and Carroll (Wis.).
Maine Maritime will host Eastern Nazarene and Husson in a twinbill
on Saturday.
