BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team
improved to 3-2 on the season after a straight-set 3-0 victory over
the University of New England in their home opener on Tuesday. With
the loss, the Nor'easters fall to 3-4 overall.
Bowdoin cruised through the first two sets, by 25-16 and 25-17
scores, before a tightly-contested third set saw the Polar Bears
prevail, 27-25.
Hillary Cederna paced the Polar Bears with 10 kills and six digs in
the victory, while Melissa Haskell notched seven kills and 11 digs.
Stephanie Bond had a team-high 17 assists for the Polar Bears, who
blasted nine service aces as a team.
UNE was led by eight kills from Paige Curran and seven from Kristen
Edwards. Kirsta Adie pitched in 16 digs while Maria Kuehl collected
17 assists on the night.
