HAMPDEN, Maine - Behind a hat trick from Eddie Jones, the Bowdoin
College men's soccer team cruised to their first win of the 2010
campaign, 4-0, over Husson University in a game played under the
lights at Hampden Academy on Tuesday evening. The Polar Bears move
to 1-0-1 this season while the Eagles fall to 1-3 this season.
Jones got Bowdoin going early, scoring just 8:32 into the game. He
added another first half score at 21:44 before closing out the
natural hat trick at 58:29. Michael Gale, who assisted on
Jones' first two goals, rounded out the scoring with a tally at
88:47. Takahiro
Nakamura earned his first career point, assisting on Jones'
third score of the night.
Dan Hicks posted his
second consecutive shutout to begin the season, needing to make
just one save. Dating back to last season, Hicks has not allowed a
goal in his last 332:41 of play. Mason Smith stopped nine shots for
Husson.
