BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team split
a pair of matches against Wellesley and national #1 Amherst this
weekend, defeating the Blue on Saturday before falling to the Jeffs
on Sunday, 8-1. The weekend results bring 11th-ranked Bowdoin's
season record to 8-3.
Against Wellesley, Bowdoin took two of three doubles matches and
cruised to wins in the top four singles sports to clinch the
victory. Brett Davis and Kellen Alberstone teamed to win #2 doubles
and both won their singles matches to lead the Polar Bear effort.
Emily Lombardi won at #3 doubles with Nikki Kuna and also earned a
point at #1 singles in the win.
Top-ranked Amherst overwhelmed Bowdoin in Sunday action, sweeping
the three doubles matches and claiming straight-set wins in five
singles matches. Brett Davis was the lone Polar Bear to pick up a
point, winning in straight-sets at #4 singles.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday afternoon at
home against Colby.
