MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Middlebury College women's volleyball team
handed Bowdoin their first conference loss of the season in a 3-1
decision at Pepin Gymnasium on Friday evening. The Panthers improve
to 12-3 (4-0 NESCAC) overall and return to action on Saturday when
they host Tufts. Bowdoin (12-6, 5-1) will take on Amherst at 11:00
a.m. in the early match tomorrow morning.
Middlebury earned their second win over Bowdoin this season by
set scores of 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 25-15. The Panthers also
defeated the Polar Bears 3-0 on September 11 on the Endicott
Invitational.
Hillary Cederna led Bowdoin with 12 kills in the match, followed
by Ellie Brennan with 10 and Stephanie Bond with 31 assists. Taylor
Vail earned 16 digs, while Brennan and Stephanie Drumright each had
four blocks.
Jane Handel led the Middlebury offense with 11 kills in the
match. Laurent Barrett earned 31 digs, followed by Caroline Cordle
with 20 and Handel with 15. Goeke added six blocks, while Barrett
had 36 assists.
