BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team
completed a season sweep of Bates on Tuesday evening in a 3-1
victory over the Bobcats at Morrell Gymnasium. Behind a 14-kill,
17-dig, four-ace effort from Hillary Cederna, the
Polar Bears improved to 12-5 this season while Bates dropped to
5-10 on the year.
Bowdoin won by set scores of 25-18, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-9. In
addition to Cederna, Bowdoin received 12 kills from Kristin Hanczor and 10
from Ellie
Brennan. Stephanie
Bond dished out 48 assists while Taylor Vail
racked up 22 digs in the victory.
Bates was led by seven kills and 11 digs from Chrissy Gee. Eliza
Pyne also had seven kills while Nicole Russell added five kills and
14 digs. Grace Hassler carded 21 assists and two aces for the
Bobcats.
With the win, the Polar Bears claim the CBB crown by going 4-0
this season against rivals Bates and Colby. Additionally, Bowdoin's
Stephanie
Drumright added to her school-record total for blocks. Broken
last weekend at Wesleyan, Drumright now has 315 total career
blocks, surpassing the mark of 308 formerly held by Erin Prifogle
'07.
