WALTHAM, Mass. - Kelly Peterson scored the game's only goal in
the 32nd minute to lift the Brandeis University women's soccer team
to a 1-0 win over Bowdoin on Wednesday evening. The Judges improve
to 11-3-1 and are ranked third in the latest New England poll.
Bowdoin drops their fourth one-goal decision of the season and
falls to 5-5-2.
Peterson broke the scoreless tie at 31:32 when she headed home a
perfectly-placed corner kick by Taryn Martiniello to give the hosts
a 1-0 advantage. Francine Kofinas would take it from there, making
six saves between the pipes for Brandeis. Bowdoin's Ellery Gould
(four shots) saw her seven-match scoring streak come to an end
while Kat Flaherty (six saves) kept the Polar Bears close,
including a spectacular diving save late in the second period.
Bowdoin will look to clinch a NESCAC playoff bid on Saturday when
they host Trinity College at 2:30 p.m.
