MEDFORD, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team
squandered a 2-1 lead and dropped a hard-fought battle to Williams,
3-2, on Saturday in a match played at Tufts University. The Polar
Bears fall to 14-8 overall and finish their NESCAC slate with a
program-best 7-3 record and can place no worse than fourth in the
final conference standings.
Williams (16-7, 6-2 NESCAC) rallied for a 13-25, 25-17, 21-25,
25-13, 15-10 victory.
Stephanie Drumright had an excellent all-around performance,
collecting 11 kills, two aces and four blocks in the loss. Kristin
Hanczor and Melissa Haskell paced the attack with 13 kills apiece.
Taylor Vail notched 27 digs while Sophia Cornew dealt 47 assists
for the Polar Bears.
The Polar Bears will return to action next weekend at the Hall of
Fame Tournament hosted by Smith and Mt. Holyoke. Bowdoin will open
play against Springfield on Friday evening at 7:00 at Smith
College.
