BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Bowdoin College volleyball team received
six or more kills from five different players en route to a 3-0
(26-24, 25-21, 25-14) sweep of the University of New England in a
non-conference match Tuesday evening at the Campus Center.
First-years Victoria Edelman and Melissa Haskell had 11 and 10
kills, respectively, to pace the Polar Bears. Senior Gillian Page
chipped in nine, while sophomore Kristin Hanczor (Redding, Conn.)
added seven and junior Stephanie Drumwright six. Edelman, Hanczor
and Drumwright were each credited with three total blocks for
Bowdoin.
Starting first-year setter Stephanie Bond handed out 14 assists in
the first set. Senior Jenna Diggs came off the bench to register 23
over the final two. Defensively, Bowdoin was paced by junior libero
Jillian Berkman, who recorded a match-high 15 digs. The Polar Bears
(7-5) snapped a three-match losing streak and will host the Maine
Mid-Coast Classic this Friday and Saturday.
