CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bowdoin College volleyball team dropped a
pair of matches on Saturday to place eighth at the MIT
Invitational. The Polar Bears, who dropped a tough 3-2 decision to
MIT and 3-0 match to NYU, stand at 6-5 overall this season.
Against MIT, Bowdoin suffered another five-set heartbreaker,
winning the first two games 25-16 and 26-24 before falling in three
straight 25-16, 25-23 and 15-7. Kristin Hanczor led the squad with
11 kills and six blocks while Melissa Haskell earned 10 kills and
18 digs. Stephanie Bond pitched in 33 assists for the Polar
Bears.
Bowdoin couldn't rebound against NYU and dropped in three sets,
25-16, 25-18 and 26-24. Hanczor ended with nine kills while Jillian
Berkman led all Polar Bears with 16 digs.
The team will look to bounce back on Tuesday evening when they
travel to play at the University of New England.
