BRUNSWICK, Maine - Gillian Page collected a game-high 20 kills,
including five in the decisive fifth game, to lead Bowdoin to a
dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Colby on Wednesday evening at
Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears, who trailed 0-2, improve to 4-0
this season while the Mules fall to 3-2.
Colby made decisive plays down the stretch of the first two games,
taking both by 25-23 counts. The Polar Bears bounced back with
impressive 25-18 and 25-12 wins in games three and four,
respectively, to set up the determining fifth game.
Keyed by Page's five kills, Bowdoin used a crucial 6-1 surge to
go from trailing 4-3 to up 9-5. The teams traded points before
another quick spurt by Bowdoin closed out the 15-9 win.
Page also posted 15 digs in the victory for Bowdoin, who received
30 assists from Stephanie Bond and six aces from Anna Noucas. Colby
was led by 12 kills from Megan Conroy, 23 assists from Emily Ten
Eyck and 25 digs from Caitlin Burchill.
