BEVERLY, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team won
their season-opener on Friday against Salve Regina at the Endicott
College Invitational. The Polar Bears claimed the win, 3-1, by game
scores of 25-9, 25-19, 21-25, 25-12.
Bowdoin played a near-perfect opening game, converting on 11 kills
with no errors in 18 attacks as a team. Kristin Hanczor paced the
Polar Bears with 10 kills in the contest with three block assists.
First-year Melissa Haskell pitched in seven kills and four service
aces in her collegiate debut. Gillian Page posted eight kills and
eight digs for Bowdoin while Jenna Diggs (17 assists) and rookie
Stephanie Bond (13 assists) keyed the Polar Bear offense.
The Polar Bears will return to action with a pair of matches
tomorrow against Eastern Connecticut and Endicott.
