AMHERST, Mass. – The 6th-ranked Amherst College
women's tennis team rallied in singles play this afternoon to
pick-up a come-from behind win over 12th-ranked NESCAC rival
Bowdoin College. The Polar Bears held a 2-1 edge after doubles
play, but the Lord Jeff singles line-up won four of six matches to
lift Amherst to the 5-4 win.
With the win, Amherst improves to 9-1 this year. The Polar Bears
(5-5) looked primed to repeat their NCAA Tournament victory of last
spring on Sunday afternoon, taking close victories in the number
one and two doubles matches. Sarah D'Elia and Emily Lombardi teamed
to win at the top doubles slot while Rachel Waldman and Charlotte
Hitch claimed victory at number two. D'Elia and Lombardi earned the
singles victories for Bowdoin at the top two places,
respectively.
