BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College softball team defeated Thomas 9-1 in game one and played to a 5-5 tie called due to darkness in the nightcap of a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Pickard Field. The Polar Bears improve to 17-12-1 while the Terriers stand at 4-11-1.

The Polar Bears mercy-ruled the Terriers in the opener, scoring six runs in the opening two innings and cruising to victory. Ali Coleman had a team-high four RBI in the game as Julia Jacobs spun six innings of one-run ball for Bowdoin. Sara Pavento took the loss for Thomas, allowing five earned runs over four innings.

Bowdoin appeared to be in line to cruise to a win in the second contest, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a two-run homer by Coleman. Thomas rallied with three runs in the fourth inning and tied the game in the fifth frame on an RBI single by Heather Dupuis. Jordan Kennedy settled in after a rocky first inning, scattering nine hits while striking out nine for the Terriers.
