BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team took
a 7-2 victory over Connecticut College in their home opener on
Sunday at Farley Field House. The Polar Bears, ranked 12th
nationally, improve to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The
Camels drop to 1-5 (0-1 NESCAC) with the loss.
Bowdoin took the top two doubles positions with dominant
performances, as Sarah D'Elia and Emily Lombardi claimed an 8-1
victory at #1 with Charlotte Hitch and Rachel Waldman cruising to
an 8-2 win at #2. D'Elia remained unbeaten in singles play this
season with a straight-set win at #1 singles as Bowdoin won five of
the six singles matches. Lombardi (#2), Waldman #4), Hitch (#5) and
Hannah Hoerner (#6) also claimed singles wins.
The Polar Bears will return to action at sixth-ranked Amherst on
Sunday, April 5.
