BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team
scored 33 points off of 23 Middlebury turnovers in a 76-50 New
England Small College Athletic Conference victory on Friday
evening. The Polar Bears improve to 17-4 (5-1 NESCAC) this season
while the Panthers fall to 7-13 (1-5).
Seven early points from Lauren Sanchez gave the visitors a 13-9
lead just 5:30 into Friday's contest. Sparked by a Sabrina Cote
three-pointer and a three-point play from Alexa Kaubris, Bowdoin
responded with an 11-0 run and would never trail again. The Polar
Bears held a 41-29 lead at intermission and used a quick 10-0 surge
immediately after the break, capped by a Jill Henrikson trifecta,
to take a 51-29 edge with 16:33 to play. Bowdoin would lead by as
many as 29 points in the second period before settling for the
26-point victory.
Kaubris led three Bowdoin players in double-figures, scoring 15
points to lead the hosts. Henrikson added 12 points while Ellery
Gould scored 10 points off the bench for the Polar Bears. Bowdoin
assisted on 21 of their 29 baskets and forced 23 turnovers for the
game.
Middlebury's Sanchez scored 15 points and grabbed six boards while
Alana Wall scored 14 off the bench for the Panthers.
