BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College sophomore Ellery Gould (East
Sandwich, Mass.) has been named Co-Player of the Week by the Maine
Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Gould led the Polar Bears
in scoring in last week's victory over the University of New
England. Seventh-ranked Bowdoin will travel to play at 20th-ranked
Southern Maine Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m.
Gould came off the bench to score 19 points on 7 of 9 shooting in
Bowdoin's win over the Nor'easters. Connecting on 4-5 from
three-point range, she led the Polar Bear reserves, who outscored
UNE's bench by a 47-6 margin in the contest. Gould is
second-straight Bowdoin player to collect the honor, as Caitlin
Hynes was honored last week.
Bowdoin will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak to
Southern Maine on Tuesday. In one of the best rivalries in Division
III basketball, the Huskies have won four of the last five meetings
between the schools dating back to 2005-06. Prior to Southern
Maine's recent success, Bowdoin had claimed seven straight against
their Gorham rivals from 2000-2004.
