Polar Bears Suffer Season-Ending Loss in NESCAC Quarters

BOX SCORE

MEDFORD, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team saw their season come to an end in a 3-1 loss to Williams in the NESCAC Quarterfinals on Friday evening. The Polar Bears finish their 2009 campaign with a record of 19-11 as the senior class of Gillian Page, Kelsey Howe and Jenna Diggs finish their careers with the second-most wins of any class in program history (73).

In addition to their 73 victories, the trio are the only class in Bowdoin women's volleyball history to post four consecutive .500 or better seasons and hold the best winning percentage (.574) of any class in program history.

Just as in the team's regular-season meeting, seventh-seeded Bowdoin was able to claim the opening set of Saturday's match, 25-23, before second-seeded Williams rebounded to take the final three sets, 25-18, 25-18 and 25-12.

Jillian Berkman set a school record with 37 digs in the loss while Page had eight kills and 15 digs. Melissa Haskell notched eight kills for Bowdoin as well. Williams was led by 16 kills from Kate Anderson.
