MEDFORD, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team saw
their season come to an end in a 3-1 loss to Williams in the NESCAC
Quarterfinals on Friday evening. The Polar Bears finish their 2009
campaign with a record of 19-11 as the senior class of Gillian
Page, Kelsey Howe and Jenna Diggs finish their careers with the
second-most wins of any class in program history (73).
In addition to their 73 victories, the trio are the only class in
Bowdoin women's volleyball history to post four consecutive .500 or
better seasons and hold the best winning percentage (.574) of any
class in program history.
Just as in the team's regular-season meeting, seventh-seeded
Bowdoin was able to claim the opening set of Saturday's match,
25-23, before second-seeded Williams rebounded to take the final
three sets, 25-18, 25-18 and 25-12.
Jillian Berkman set a school record with 37 digs in the loss while
Page had eight kills and 15 digs. Melissa Haskell notched eight
kills for Bowdoin as well. Williams was led by 16 kills from Kate
Anderson.
