NEW LONDON, Conn. - Senior co-captain Shavonne Lord scored 2:42
into the second half Saturday to lead the 13th ranked Bowdoin
College Polar Bears (5-2, 2-2) to a 1-0 victory against Connecticut
College (3-4, 2-2) in NESCAC field hockey action played on the
Artificial Turf at Silfen Field. The victory is the 16th by the
Polar Bears over the Camels dating back to 1995.
Ingrid Oelschlager assisted on the game-winner with a hit from the
top of the circle. Lord redirected the shot in front for her fourth
goal of the season and third game-winner of the campaign. Junior
net-minder Emily Neilson made four saves en route to her second
shutout of the season.
Connecticut College senior Steph Quinn collected seven of her 12
saves in the second half for the Camels. Quinn has made 42 saves in
her first three starts this season. The visiting Polar Bears
out-shot the hosts 17-to-6 in the victory.
Bowdoin will visit Wheaton Sunday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. game
in Norton, Mass.
