Volleyball Loses Two Matches at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team grabbed early leads, but couldn't hold off Middlebury and Williams in a pair of 3-1 NESCAC losses on Saturday at Middlebury College. The Polar Bears (15-8, 4-4 NESCAC), who had won nine of their last ten matches, had not lost consecutive matches since late September.

Bowdoin stole the first set in both matches, falling to Williams 17-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-17 and dropping to Middlebury 23-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-12 .

Kristin Hanczor was outstanding against Williams, posting 15 kills in the loss. Gillian Page had nine kills and 14 digs while Jenna Diggs had 37 assists and 25 digs in the setback. Against Middlebury, Page had 19 kills and 14 digs while Melissa Haskell earned 10 kills and 18 digs. Hanczor also notched 10 kills with Stephanie Bond collecting 37 assists.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Tuesday when they celebrate Senior Night against Maine Maritime.
