HARTFORD, Conn. - Junior forward Leah Rubega had 18 points and
nine rebounds to lead the visiting Bowdoin College Polar Bears to a
62-44 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball
action this afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity falls to 15-3
overall and 3-2 in the NESCAC with its first loss in three games,
while the Polar Bears improve to 16-4 overall and 4-1 in the league
with their second victory in a row.
Bowdoin made its first nine shots from the field while racing off
to early leads of 19-7 and 27-9 en route to a 34-20 lead at the
half. The Polar Bears held Trinity to six field goals in 23 tries
in the first half and 28.8 percent field goal shooting in the
game.
Bowdoin never led by less than 15 points in the second half.
Sophomore guard Katie Bergeron and freshman guard Jill Henrikson
added 12 points each, while senior tri-captain guard Maria Noucas
dished out a game-high eight assists and made three steals for
Bowdoin.
Trinity junior co-captain guard Claire Arnstein scored a team-high
12 points and added five rebounds, six assists, and four steals,
while classmate Christine Card pulled down a team-high six boards.
