MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's soccer team
Bowdoin extended its unbeaten streak vs. Wesleyan to 14 years with
a scoreless tie on the road Saturday. Bowdoin (1-0-2) is now 11-0-3
vs. Wesleyan (1-0-1) since last falling 1-0 in 1994.
While Wesleyan senior goalie Gavi Elkind collected six saves and
Bowdoin netminder senior Kelly Thomas posted five, the best scoring
opportunities by both teams resulted in shots that went either high
or wide of the goal. Bowdoin sophomore Katherine Farrar lofted a
long shot from the right side with 16 minutes to go on the first
half that floated past Elkind and connected soundly with the left
goal post but stayed out of the net, allowing Wesleyan to
clear.
Sophomore Rebecca Silva had several other good scoring chances for
Bowdoin from her four shots while senior Yuri Hoshino and freshman
Emma Nitzberg had two prime chances for Wesleyan with both shots
going wide.
