WATERVILLE, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team
went 1-2 at a NESCAC meet hosted by College this weekend, clinching
the seventh seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The Polar
Bears dropped matches to Middlebury and Williams before bouncing
back to down Hamilton.
Bowdoin (17-16, 4-6 NESCAC) will face second-seeded Wesleyan
(20-6, 8-2 NESCAC) in the opening round of the NESCAC Tournament
that begins Friday, November 7 at Tufts. Game time is scheduled for
5:00 p.m.
The Polar Bears opened the weekend with a loss to Middlebury,
3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-22). Kristin Hanczor and Gillian Page led the
team with 11 and nine kills apiece, respectively. Jenna Diggs had a
team-high 26 assists and 17 digs.
Bowdoin dropped their first match Saturday to Williams, 3-1
(22-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-13). Page (12 kills) and Hanczor (11)
again led the squad with Skye Lawrence notching a team-best 18
digs. Diggs posted 34 assists in the loss.
Bowdoin rebounded to sweep Hamilton, 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-19).
Page earned 13 kills while Hanczor notched nine. Jenna Diggs
delivered five aces in addition to 27 assists and nine digs.
The Polar Bears lost in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC
Tournament to Wesleyan in 2006 and will look to avenge a 3-0 loss
to the Cardinals on October 17.
