WATERVILLE, Maine - Molly Duffy scored her first two goals of the
season and added an assist as the Bowdoin College women's soccer
team took a 4-0 victory over Colby College in New England Small
College Athletic Conference play Saturday. Bowdoin improves to
7-3-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the NESCAC heading into Friday's regular
season finale at home against Tufts University. Colby falls to
4-8-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the league.
The Polar Bears went up 1-0 at intermission after Dana Riker
scored her fourth goal of the season at 28:06. Duffy went to work
in the second half and played a part in all three goals. She had an
unassisted tally just 4:13 into the second half to give Bowdoin
some breathing room. The game stayed that way until Duffy scored
again with 4:33 to play off an assist from Kit Hamley. Duffy then
assisted on a goal by Celeste Swain with just 1:04 to play.
Kelly Thomas earned her sixth shutout of the season with eight
saves in goal for Bowdoin. Loni Pisani and Rachel Freierman
combined for eight saves for Colby.
The win improves the Polar Bears to an incredible 35-0-3
all-time against the Mules, dating back to 1979.
