Duffy Scores Twice as Bowdoin Hammers Colby

BOX SCORE

WATERVILLE, Maine - Molly Duffy scored her first two goals of the season and added an assist as the Bowdoin College women's soccer team took a 4-0 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday. Bowdoin improves to 7-3-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the NESCAC heading into Friday's regular season finale at home against Tufts University. Colby falls to 4-8-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the league.

The Polar Bears went up 1-0 at intermission after Dana Riker scored her fourth goal of the season at 28:06. Duffy went to work in the second half and played a part in all three goals. She had an unassisted tally just 4:13 into the second half to give Bowdoin some breathing room. The game stayed that way until Duffy scored again with 4:33 to play off an assist from Kit Hamley. Duffy then assisted on a goal by Celeste Swain with just 1:04 to play.

Kelly Thomas earned her sixth shutout of the season with eight saves in goal for Bowdoin. Loni Pisani and Rachel Freierman combined for eight saves for Colby.

The win improves the Polar Bears to an incredible 35-0-3 all-time against the Mules, dating back to 1979.
