Gould's Second-Half Goal Lifts Bowdoin Over Husson

BOX SCORE

BANGOR, Maine - Bowdoin College first-year Ellery Gould scored the game-winning goal with under 20 minutes left to give the Polar Bear women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Husson on Sunday afternoon. Bowdoin stands at 6-2-3 this season while the Eagles drop to 11-4-0.

Bowdoin controlled the pace of play in the opening half, earning a 10-5 advantage in shots, but couldn't get past Husson netminder Tatyana Wolterbeek, who made six saves in the first period.

The second period featured more back-and-forth play, and Bowdoin finally broke through when Gould, the team's leading scorer, netted her fourth game-winning goal of the season. The first-year carried the ball into the box, beat a defender and booted a volley into the far side of the net for the contest's lone score.

Kelly Thomas made the lead stand by stopping five shots for the Polar Bears in her fifth shutout of the season.
