BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College sophomore forward Eileen
Flaherty (Fairfield, Conn.) has collected more weekly honors for
her play in two Polar Bear wins last week. Bowdoin is ranked first
in the latest national poll released on Monday, and are 16-1
entering play Tuesday evening at fourth-ranked Bates.
For the second straight week, Flaherty was named New England Small
College Athletic Conference Player of the Week and was also tabbed
the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference's New England Player of
the Week for her performance in victories over Amherst and Trinity
last weekend.
Flaherty continued her dominant play of late, averaging 23.5
points, six rebounds and two blocks per game. She scored 19 points
and grabbed eight boards as Bowdoin beat Amherst 65-62 on Friday
evening. On Saturday, she scored a game-high 27 points in a 75-58
win at Trinity. For the week, she connected on 18 of 32 shots
(56%). She leads Bowdoin and is second in the conference at 16.1
points per game this year.
