BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team
has earned a first-round bye in NCAA Tournament selections
announced on Sunday evening. The top-ranked Polar Bears (26-0)
earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tourney by defeating Bates in
the NESCAC final today, 51-47.
Bowdoin will face the winner of the Salve Regina-Emmanuel game
on Saturday, March 6. The first-round game will be played at Salve
Regina on Wednesday evening. Saturday's gametime will be announced
later this week. Bowdoin has defeated Emmanuel in the second-round
of the NCAA's in each of the past two seasons. The Polar Bears have
advanced to the Elite Eight in each of the past two years, and
reached the Sweet Sixteen in 2001.
