BRUNSWICK, Maine - The
Bowdoin College women's basketball team continued to roll and stand
at number two in the latest national poll released on Monday. In
addition, senior captain Lora Trenkle was named the Player of the
Week by the MWBCA (Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association)
for her efforts in three victories last week.
Trenkle led the unbeaten
Polar Bears (13-0) to three more wins over conference foes Colby,
Trinity and Amherst. The senior guard from Surry, Maine averaged
16.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists in just 24 minutes per
game. The preseason All-American came within three rebounds of
becoming just the third player in school history to record a
double-double as she had 18 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds in
the Trinity contest.
The University of
Rochester continued to hold onto the D3hoops.com number-one ranking
this week, garnering 19 first-place votes. Bowdoin was a solid
number two, earning four first-place ballots.
