Ruth Ness

Ruth Ness joined the Bowdoin staff as an assistant coach forfield hockey and women's lacrosse in the summer of 2012.

A native of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire and a 2005 graduate of theUniversity of New England, Ness most recently was the head women'slacrosse coach at Elms College. Prior to her time at Elms, Ness hadassistant coaching stints at Smith, Messiah and at UNE. From2005-2007, Coach Ness was a school coaching officer at MarlboroughCollege in Marlborough, England. There she coached thewomen’s lacrosse, field hockey and track & field teamsand served as a teacher in the physical education program.

While an undergraduate at the University of New England, Ness wasa decorated two-sport athlete. In lacrosse, she was a four-yearstarter and four-time All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selection.In field hockey, she helped to start the school's program as ajunior and served as a captain in both her junior and seniorcampaigns. She was named UNE's Female Athlete of the Year in 2005.Ness graduated from UNE with a degree in Educational Studies andowns a Master's in Exercise and Sport Studies from Smith.
