Matt Somma

Matthew Somma is the manager of the Orthopedic AssociatesBrunswick Clinic and physical therapist at the OA clinic at BowdoinCollege.

Somma received his doctorate in physical therapy from theUniversity of New England in 2009. Prior to becoming a physicaltherapist, Matthew became a Certified Strength and ConditioningSpecialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and ConditioningAssociation. Matthew worked as a strength coach in the San DiegoPadres organization in 2006. He was located at their springtraining complex in Peoria, Arizona where he instructed playersaffiliated with their Rookie ball affiliate, the Peoria Padres.While with the Padres, he was involved in training a championshipteam in the Arizona League.

Upon receiving his physical therapy license in 2009, Matthewworked at a physical therapy clinic in Scarborough. His focus wason non-surgical management of patients with spinal dysfunction andathletes with low back pain.

Matthew joined Orthopedic Associates in January of 2010 as astaff clinician at the OA Performance Center in Saco. His clinicalinterests include biomechanical analysis of the overhead athlete,rehabilitation of the shoulder, and rehabilitation of low backdysfunction.

Physical therapy evaluations and treatments are provided toBowdoin college students who have prescriptions from their healthcare providers.  All sessions will be in the athletic trainingroom located in the basement level of the Peter Buck Health andFitness Center.  Hours of operation are 8:30am – 5:30 pmMonday through Friday.
