In January of 2007, Maren Rojas was named the head coach of theBowdoin College women's soccer program. Rojas, who was mostrecently an assistant at the University of Virginia, is a 1994graduate of William & Mary.
Coach Rojas enjoyed a stellar rookie campaign with the PolarBears, posting a 12-5-1 record, the squad's first-ever NESCACChampionship game appearance and a bid to the NCAA Tournament.After four seasons at the helm, she has racked up 33 wins and a.570 winning percentage.
Rojas served as the an assistant coach for the University ofVirginia for four seasons and brings 13 years of Division Icoaching experience into her first head coaching position. She tookthe reins from legendary Bowdoin head coach John Cullen, whoaccumulated 237 victories over the past 22 seasons, including thelast two as co-head coach with Katie Sheridan.
A native of northern Virginia, Rojas was a standout in goal atWilliam & Mary from 1990 to 1994. During that time, Rojas was athree-time team MVP and two- time regional All-American whileleading the Tribe to three NCAA Tournament appearances. She isstill among the all-time leaders in most goalkeeping categories atWilliam & Mary. Rojas graduated from W&M in 1994 with adegree in Art.
Rojas began her coaching career at James Madison, where sheserved as the goalkeeping coach for both the men's and women'sprograms from 1994-96. From there Rojas went to SyracuseUniversity, where she helped start the women's soccer program in1996. In seven years with the Orange, she helped the school appearin two NCAA Tournaments and three Big East tournaments.
Most recently, Rojas enjoyed an extremely successful stint atthe University of Virginia, where the Cavaliers posted a 59-22-9mark since her arrival in 2003. The squad won their first-ever ACCChampionship over North Carolina in 2004, and reached the NCAATournament in each of her four seasons.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Rojas hasalso served as a Region I staff goalkeeping coach since 1997 and aU.S. National staff goalkeeping coach from 2001 to 2003. Rojas alsoholds an "A" coaching license from the U.S. Soccer Federation andan NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.
