Jeff Pellegrini

Jeff Pellegrini will begin his second season as an assistantcoach for Bowdoin in 2010-11. In his first campaign, Pellegrinihelped lead the Polar Bears to a first-place finish in the NESCACregular season and an NCAA Tournament bid in 2009-10.

Pellegrini brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and recruitingexperience to the Polar Bears. His first collegiate coachingexperience was as an assistant coach at Nichols College, where thehockey program had not experienced a winning season in nearlythirty years. Pellegrini recruited two freshman who were nationallyranked in scoring for the Bison, as well as the conference rookieof the year and three All-League rookies. He helped lay thefoundation for the Bison team that captured the 2009 ECAC NortheastChampionship.

After leaving Nichols, Pellegrini became the assistant icehockey coach at UMass Boston in 2006 and has been instrumental inthe Beacons success over the last few seasons. He served as theteam's primary recruiting and video coordinator and helped lead theteam to their best season since 1981. In 2008-09, UMass Bostonreached the championship game of the ECAC East Men's Ice HockeyTournament for the first time in school history. Eight ofPellegrini's recruited players have gone to play in theprofessional ranks. He also coaches and evaluates players for USAHockey New England District Select festivals.

Prior to his arrival at Nichols College, Pellegrini was the headcoach of the Boston Junior Blackhawks where he was selected the2004 Coach of the Year and was selected to coach the IJHL All-StarTeam. In addition to his success coaching the Blackhawks,Pellegrini also had a successful career as a player. He finished asthe program's all-time leading scorer and was a three time mostvaluable player and three time defenseman of the year.
