Chris Sapp joined the Bowdoin coaching staff in the summer of 2012 and serves as recruiting coordinator, cornerbacks coach and special teams coordinator.
Sapp came to Bowdoin from Middle Tennessee State University, where he was a defensive graduate assistant for two seasons. A 2005 graduate of North Greenville (S.C.) University, he was a three-year starter, two-year captain and All-League selection. He broke into coaching at his alma mater in the fall of 2005 before joining the football operations staff at Clemson in 2005 where he helped the Tigers win the Champs Sports Bowl. He moved on to coach at RPI in 2006, where he oversaw the receivers and kick return units until 2010, coaching the five All-Conference players and the school's all-time leading receiver. While earning his Master of Science at MTSU, Sapp coached the linebackers and cornerbacks for the past two seasons, helping the team earn a trip to the 2011 GoDaddy.com Bowl.
In the summer of 2014, Sapp worked with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League, installing plays, coaching technique and evaluating personnel for the offense. He also worked with the special teams in installing aspects of the kicking game.
A native of West Palm Beach, Florida, Sapp and his wife Jessica reside in Brunswick with their son Nico and dog "Bronx".
