BRADENTON, Fla. - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team jumped to a 6-1 lead and never looked back in a 20-10 victory over Vassar in Florida on Thursday morning.

The Polar Bears (2-3) scored a season-best 20 goals in the victory. Vassar drops their first game of the season and falls to 2-1.

Game Highlights

• Emma Beecher, who scored a game-high five goals, scored three of Bowdoin's first six scores as the Polar Bears jumped to a 6-1 lead after 11 minutes of play
• Vassar cut the lead to 6-3 before Bowdoin finished the half on a 3-1 run to take a 9-4 edge at the break
• Vassar was able to stay within shouting distance early in the second half, trailing by only four goals, 11-7, with 20 minutes to go
• Bowdoin put the game out of reach with a 9-1 surge over a 12-minute span to put the contest into running time

By The Numbers

• Beecher finished with five goals on eight shots and also tallied an assist
• Annie Glenn was all over the field with three goals, five ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers for Bowdoin
• Mettler Growney had two goals, two assists and five draws while Lindsay Picard grabbed a game-high seven draw controls
• Margaret Savage, Megan O'Connor and Kelsey Gallagher also had two goals apiece for Bowdoin
• Julia Trudell led Vassar with three goals
• Kayli Weiss had two saves (four goals against) in the opening half for Bowdoin before giving way to Erin Morrissey with one save (six goals against) in the second half for Bowdoin
