BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team has received a Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association for its work in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

It is the 12th straight year that the Polar Bears have received the honor.

On the court, the Polar Bears were one of the finest teams in Division III, winning the NESCAC Championship and reaching the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III Championship with a record of 29-2. Bowdoin will open its 2019 season at the Wesleyan Invitational on September 6-7, beginning their season against Wellesley on Friday, September 6. The complete schedule can be found here.
