BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin sophomore Ashley Williams has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.
Williams was outstanding last week, leading Bowdoin to a 2-1 weekend, including a come-from-behind 3-2 win at Tufts on Friday night. Williams registered a career-high 23-kill effort and .400 hitting percentage as Bowdoin rallied from a 2-1 deficit to edge the Jumbos. For the weekend she averaged 3.42 kills per set in wins over Tufts and Scranton and a 3-1 loss to fourth-ranked Johnson & Wales.
It is the first NESCAC Player of the Week honor for Williams, who is one of five Polar Bears to be averaging over 2.0 kills/set this season. Bowdoin (10-1, 3-0 NESCAC) returns to action Friday night with a NESCAC match at Williams at 7:00 p.m.
