2017 Recap (15-10): Facing a challenging early-season schedule, the Polar Bears battled to a 5-6 start to the campaign, but rolled off an 8-1 stretch to open October that propelled them to near the top of the NESCAC standings. Bowdoin finished third in the conference standings and rallied from an 0-2 deficit to stun Middlebury in the NESCAC Quarterfinals before falling to eventual conference champion Wesleyan in the semifinals.
2018 Preview: The Polar Bears are loaded for 2018 with three All-NESCAC performers returning to the squad, including the AVCA New England Player of the Year, senior libero Lisa Sheldon as well as First Team All-NESCAC junior outside hitter Caroline Flaharty and the reigning NESCAC Rookie of the Year, sophomore setter Kate Kiser. In all, Bowdoin returns its top three hitters in Flaharty (3.44 K/S), Sydney Salle (2.68 K/S) and Ashley Williams (2.53 (K/S), Kiser's 960 assists and Sheldon's 582 digs.
2018 Schedule: Bowdoin boasts another challenging September schedule that sees the Polar Bears play just once at home in their first 14 matches, including trips to the hotly-contested New England Invitational (Sep. 7-8) and Johnson & Wales Invitational (Sep. 22). The Polar Bears open their season on Wednesday, September 5 at Southern Maine and will play their first home game on Wednesday, September 12 against Maine Maritime. Bowdoin hosts six home matches in October, including NESCAC battles with Trinity (Oct. 5), Amherst (Oct. 6), Wesleyan (Oct. 26) and Connecticut College (Oct. 27).
