Women's Tennis Trio Earns All-NESCAC Honors, NCAA Bids

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Three members of the Bowdoin women's tennis team were named All-New England Small College Athletic Conference and also qualified for the NCAA Championship in announcements made on Thursday.

Seniors Joulia Likhanskaia (Winter Park, Fla.) and Samantha Stalder (Costa Mesa, Calif.) earned First Team recognition in All-NESCAC honors while Tess Trinka (Oak Park, Ill.) was named a Second Team All-NESCAC choice. In NCAA Individual selections, Likhanskaia and Trinka qualified as singles participants while the doubles team of Stalder and Likhanskaia also earned a bid.

Joulia Likhanskaia and Samantha Stalder were selected as a First Team All-NESCAC doubles team from Bowdoin. The duo holds a 17-8 record as the top doubles team for the Polar Bears. Stalder earns her second All-NESCAC accolade after being named to the First Team in doubles in 2014, while Likhanskaia earns All-NESCAC honors in doubles for the third time in her career and is a First Team All-NESCAC singles selection for the fourth straight season. The 2014 NESCAC Rookie of the Year is 17-7 this season at No. 1 singles for Bowdoin. She helped the Polar Bears advance to the semifinals of the NESCAC Championship and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament Field for the 16th consecutive season.

Trinka enjoyed a fantastic season to capture her first All-NESCAC recognition, Second Team in singles. She recorded an overall record of 17-6, including a 12-6 mark after being elevated to #2 in the lineup this spring.

The team championship will take place May 22-24, and the individual championships May 25- 27, both at The Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and will be hosted by the University of the South and the Chattanooga Sports Commission.
