Polar Bears Cruise to Win Over Wesleyan in Home Debut

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team easily dispatched Wesleyan University, 8-1, in their home opener Saturday at Farley Field House. The Polar Bears, who recently rose to 12th in the latest ITA national poll, remain unbeaten against Division III squads this season (7-1) and moves to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in NESCAC play.

The Polar Bears lost just eight points in three doubles matches, including an impressive 8-0 sweep at #3 by Chantalle Lavertu and Hannah Hoerner. Lavertu capped a perfect afternoon by collecting a straight-set, 6-0, 6-0 sweep at #4 singles play. Kellen Alberstone and Emily Lombardi also earned straight-set victories at the top two singles positions while Kate Winingham and Hannah Hoerner also netted singles wins to seal the 8-1 Polar Bear win.

Bowdoin will return to action next weekend with a pair of key road NESCAC matches at Tufts (April 8) and Williams (April 9).
