• Seven Polar Bears Earn All-NESCAC Squash Honors

    BRUNSWICK, Maine - Seven Bowdoin College squash players were recognized as All-New England Small College Athletic Conference performers in post-season awards handed out by the conference on Thursday. Led by women's first-team choice Elena Laird (Cambridge, Mass.), the Polar Bears had three women and three men earn second-team selections.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's squash team finished 12th in the nation, going 1-2 at the Kurtz Cup National Tournament this weekend. The Polar Bears defeated Middlebury in the opening round before falling to Brown in the semifinals and dropping to Mount Holyoke in the consolation round. Bowdoin finishes their season with a record of 15-9.
  • Women's Squash Rounds Out Campaign With Five Wins

    BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's squash team posted five victories in an outstanding final home weekend of the season, improving their record to 14-9 heading into the CSA Team Nationals hosted by Harvard this coming weekend. The Polar Bears dropped Tufts (8-1), George Washington (6-3) and Northeastern (8-1) in CSA play while also earning a pair of wins against the University of Toronto (6-3, 6-3). Bowdoin's top six players all posted perfect 5-0 marks over the weekend.

    HARTFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's squash team reached the semifinals, going 1-1 at the NESCAC Championship Tournament this weekend at Trinity College. The Polar Bears defeated Hamilton 9-0 in the quarterfinals before falling to Williams 9-0 to close out their tournament chances.

    LEWISTON, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's squash team rallied from a two-game deficit to take a 5-4 victory over rival Bates on Tuesday evening. The Polar Bears earned wins at the top five positions to improve to 6-8 this season. Bowdoin will next play in the NESCAC Tournament this weekend at Trinity College.

    BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's squash team won four of their last five matches during winter break and enter the spring semester with an overall record of 5-7. The Polar Bears opened 2009 by falling in three straight matches, but rebounded well at Yale last weekend. Alex Franchesci and Elizabeth Warner enjoyed exceptional showings, going unbeaten in the five matches.

    HANOVER, N.H. - The Bowdoin College men's and women's squash teams each split a pair of matches this weekend at Dartmouth College. The men's team defeated Connecticut College 6-3 before falling to Dartmouth 9-0. The women's squad eased past the Camels 8-1 while also dropping to the Green, 9-0.
